
*Kwara State Government Constructs Over 190 Roads As It Is Sets To Open Unity Overhead Bridge.
Kwara State Government says it has embarked on construction of over 190 road projects across the three senatorial districts from 2023 till date.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo made the disclosure while speaking at the 45th edition of the Kwara State NUJ Media Parliament.
Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo explained that the state government has also paid counterpart fund to the federal government to construct 209.77Km road in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the projects ranges from road rehabilitation and total reconstruction to make movement easier for the residents.
He highlighted some of the roads constructed including the 21km road in Esie,12km road in Ajase -Ipo, rehabilitation of 2km road from Omu Aran to Oko, and 5km road from Oko to Oro-Ago, Ilesha Baruba Gwanara road, Kaiama Bade Saadu Road among others.
The Commissioner said most of the projects have been completed while others are near completion.

Abdulquawiy Olododo said that the state fire service under the ministry has been able to save 17 billion naira worth of property from fire incident while about 817million naira was lost to inferno during the period.
On Unity/Challenge overhead bridge, the Commissioner hinted that work had reached 99 per cent and the road would be opened on Saturday 21st December, 2024.
Speaking on restriction of commercial motorcycles and tricycles from plying some roads in the state, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo said that the decision was to ensure sanity and enhabce security in the area.
Earlier, in an opening address, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kwara State Council, Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed said the urban renewal projects embarked upon by the state government has changed the status of the state.
He commended the state government for opening up the state for business activities.

Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed explained that the NUJ Media Parliament is a platform for stakeholders in the media industry to bring to the fore issues of the moment for indepth discussion.
Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed stressed that the theme of the media parliament would enlighten the public on the government’s ongoing infrastructural development programmes aimed at revitalizing cities and improving the overall quality of life in the state.
He noted that Kwara State as one of the first generation states is making remarkable progress under the present administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
According to the Chairman, the renewal urban programme of Governor AbdulRazaq has started yielding positive results in view of the new look of Ilorin, the State capital and some other cities and towns in the State.
The NUJ Chairman enjoined the State Government to continue with its people oriented programmes for the overall benefit of the people of the State.

Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed also commended the Commissioner for Works, Engr AbdulQuawiy Olododo for his efforts at delivering quality jobs, saying that his appointment as Commissioner was a welcome development to the youth in the state.
Also, in a remark, the Chairmen, National League of Veteran Journalists, NALVEJ, Kwara State Chapter, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his laudable projects and programmes, describing him as a silent achiever.
He praised the Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo for his dedication and commitment to work, saying that he has been a good ambassador of the youth.
The Kwara NALVEJ Chairman thanked the Kwara NUJ under the leadership of Comrade Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed for organizing the programme, he described as educative.
