Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Govenor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has led a delegation of the Forum to commiserate with the government and people of Plateau over the recent violence in parts of the state.

The NGF delegation which comprised Governors of Borno, Bauchi, Benue, Oyo, and Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Speaking during the visit, Governor AbdulRazaq commiserated with the families of the victims, as he also commended the interventions of the security agencies, which prevented further escalations.

“On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the people of our states, I bring you sincere words of condolences on the unfortunate events in which many of our compatriots have lost their lives.

He called on leaders and influencers across all communities and sectors in Plateau to join the state government in the task of uniting the people and restoring sustainable peace.

“Leaders, including youth leaders, should come together to speak strongly against violence of any kind. We urge that we resolve our differences through dialogue, fair negotiations, mutual respect, and perspective taking”.

Governor AbdulRazaq noted that sustainable development could be a mirage in an atmosphere of tension and violence, hence the need for everyone to embrace peace and dialogue.

According to Governor AbdulRazaq, Plateau is full of potentialities, especially in agriculture and tourism but these can be affected negatively if there is no peace.

He commended Governor of Plateau State for his leadership at the critical moment, saying that the visit is to express their solidarity with him, the government and the people of Plateau State.

Members of the delegation pray to God Almighty to repose the souls of the victims and restore peace to their communities.
