The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf has purchased a Ring Main Unit (RMU) to repair the long-dilapidated transformer serving over twenty-five (25) communities in Abayan.
The transformer supplies electricity to most communities in Agunjin District, part of Oke-Ode Ward III, and sections of Ora Ward, which have experienced power outage for more than two years.

The Chairman also donated solar-powered street lights to fourteen (14) rural communities across the 18 wards of the Local Government. Benefiting communities in this first batch include Balogun-Oyi, Ologorun, Budo Etsu, Alakuko, Oke-Ode, Babaloma, Igbaja, Omupo, Obin Aiyetoro, Oreke Okegbo, Gaa Gatta, Aiyekojo, Ogigi, and Aperun.
“We did the first batch of the street lights basically for the rural parts of the Local Government to ensure those at the grassroots enjoy it and feel secure and safe. The solar lights will still go round in the next batches,” he said.

“The Abayan transformer gives power to more than twenty-five communities. We have commenced work on it. We will deliver it to IBEDC for installation, and very soon, power will be restored to the affected areas.”
The Head of Department for Works, Engr. Badmus Ayinde, commended the Chairman’s commitment to rural development, confirming that installation work is already ongoing and that the communities will soon begin to benefit from both electricity and the new street lighting.
