The Kwara State Police Command has released 48 suspects earlier arrested at Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejinre-Adeyemi, said the arrest followed credible intelligence received from the Divisional Police Officer, Oke-Ode.

Operatives of the Command, working with vigilantes attached to the Office of the National Security Adviser on special duty, had intercepted the 48 men along the Alade–Oreke axis, riding in clusters on 14 motorcycles.

During the operation, 43 mobile phones and other personal effects were recovered.

The statement notes that the suspects underwent detailed criminal intelligence analysis and profiling, while their mobile devices were subjected to digital forensic examination, including extraction of call records, communication trails, transaction history, and geo-location mapping to determine possible links to kidnapping, banditry, or other organized crimes.

However, after exhaustive technical profiling and background checks, no incriminating evidence or criminal affiliations were established.

Consequently, all 48 individuals were released on Monday morning.

The Police Command assured the public that the exercise was conducted with utmost professionalism, respect for human rights, and strict adherence to investigative procedures.

It emphasized that the outcome demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to act swiftly on intelligence while ensuring innocent citizens are not unjustly criminalized.

The statement urges residents of Kwara State to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by promptly sharing credible information with security agencies.
