The Gambari Youth have commended Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his swift intervention in addressing the recent protest at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, describing the move as a clear demonstration of responsible leadership and commitment to transparency, peace, and accountability in the education sector.
In a statement, the group acknowledged the constitution of a committee to investigate the incident, noting that due process and a thorough inquiry are essential to resolving issues surrounding the protest.
However, the Gambari Youth appealed to the Governor to ensure that the directive asking the Rector, Engr. Abdul, to step aside pending investigation is not misconstrued as a termination of his tenure.
They stressed that stepping aside is a procedural measure, not a verdict, and urged that justice be guided by fairness, facts, and institutional integrity.
The group highlighted what it described as the Rector’s meaningful contributions to the growth and stability of the institution, expressing confidence that the probe would be objective and free from prejudice.
They called on the committee to consider all perspectives and allow the process to run its full course without pre-judgment or external pressure.
The youth body further appealed to the Governor to ensure that the outcome of the investigation strengthens the polytechnic rather than weakens it, cautioning against sacrificing capable leadership amid heightened tension.
Reaffirming their commitment to peace, dialogue, and educational development in Kwara State, the Gambari Youth said they trust in the wisdom and fairness of the Governor to ensure a just and balanced resolution.
They reiterated that the Rector’s temporary stepping aside should be seen solely as part of a transparent process that allows truth and fairness to prevail.
