As NYSC orientation camps open nationwide, a total of 2,550 members of the 2026 Batch A, Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) have been officially sworn in for their orientation course in Kwara State.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, administered the oath of allegiance during the swearing-in ceremony held at the temporary orientation camp located at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. The enrollment breakdown for the current intake includes 86 males1,687 females, including those redeployed from Lagos State for the three-week exercise.

In his remarks, Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, urged the corps members to demonstrate patriotism and leave a lasting positive impact through intentional actions.The Governor, while admonishing the youths to prioritize every aspect of the orientation course, encouraged them to imbibe the scheme’s core values by actively participating in all training sessions to fully utilize the opportunities provided.

“The State offers boundless opportunities for young people to maximize their talents, skills, and innovative ideas–I enjoin you to tap into these resources and carve out an enviable life for yourselves,” the Governor stated.

The Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, assured the corps members that the State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to their welfare and security.

He emphasized that the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration would continue to employ dynamic strategies to engage and support the youth.

In his address, NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr. Olaoluwa Onifade, confirmed that all corps members have been successfully registered and accommodated in accordance with the NYSC Act and standard operating procedures.

The Coordinator charged the Corps members to reject nepotism and tribal animosity, urging them to work toward the unity of Nigeria; particularly as the nation navigates various contemporary challenges.
