A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Prince Lekan Adewoye, has formally declared his intention to contest the Kwara South Senatorial seat, pledging effective, responsive and people-oriented representation.
The declaration, held at Ajase-Ipo Comprehensive High School, attracted a large turnout of party leaders, government officials, traditional and religious leaders, as well as youth and women groups, alongside members of the media.
Addressing the gathering, Adewoye said his decision followed extensive consultations across the senatorial district, stressing that his ambition is driven by the need to tackle persistent socio-economic and developmental challenges confronting the people.
He assured constituents that, if elected, he would be an active and accessible lawmaker.
“I will not be a silent voice or an absent senator, but a strong advocate for the people,” he said.
Outlining his agenda, Adewoye identified youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, infrastructure development, improved healthcare, and enhanced security as key priorities.
He also pledged to ensure that all federal projects allocated to the district are fully executed.
The APC chieftain further promised to expand economic opportunities, strengthen the education sector, and support local businesses as part of efforts to drive grassroots development.
On his governance style, Adewoye emphasised transparency and accountability, committing to establish a functional constituency office, hold regular town hall meetings, and create platforms that would enable constituents to monitor projects and track campaign promises.
He called on party members and supporters to unite behind his aspiration, expressing confidence that collective effort would secure victory at the polls.
