Abdullahi Ahmed led team of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Harmony FM chapel, has been re-elected for a second term.

This followed a unanimous vote by members of the chapel at an election held on Thursday at the Red Cross office of Harmony FM, Ilorin.

In an address, the NUJ, Kwara Council Chairman, Abdullateef Ahmed urged the new executive members to foster unity and engage in activities that would promote oneness.

Mallam Ahmed pointed out that, inline with the constitution of the Union, members must pay their annual professional fees and chapels must hold elections as and when due to promote unionism.

In a bid to rid the profession of quacks, he explained that the Council had sanitize its membership database by ensuring that only qualified persons are registered as journalists.

In a remark, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian, Alhaji Abdulwahab Akọshile, represented by the Head of Department, Engineering, Alhaji Olayinka Abubakar, commended the State Council for the various programmes and capacity building projects done so far and urged them not to relent.

Alhaji Akoshile also encouraged the newly sworn in Harmony FM Chapel members to come up with programmes that would promote professionalism and unity.

Vice Chairman, NUJ, Kwara Council, Hajia Binta Abubakar Mora expressed happiness on the smooth conduct of the exercise and wished the new exco well in their endeavours.

In a remark, the newly elected Chairman of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM chapel, Abdullahi Ahmed expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed on his team and pledged to remain steadfast in solidifying the gains made over the years.

The event was attended by top management members of the Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, including HOD Marketing, Alhaji Suraj Aderibigbe, NUJ, Kwara Council Secretary, Yinka Alaya, who conducted the election, and Ex-officio Two, Umar Abubakar.

The newly elected executive members of Harmony FM chapel are Chairman, Abdullahi Ahmed; Vice Chairman, Sadiq Adebara; Secretary, Mistura Tolani; Assistant Secretary, Tope Ibiyeye; Treasurer, Muinat Usman, and Financial Secretary, Ronke Adegboye.
