About One Thousand orphans and vulnerable persons have been supported with various items including food stuff, educational materials and vocational skills in Kwara State.

The humanitarian service is under Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home, Ilorin funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of Orphan Support Project, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State called on donor organizations not to be deterred in responding to the yearnings and aspirations of the downtrodden in the society.

Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Dr Azeez Abolore, described funding of the orphanages by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in partnership with Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home in the state as laudable.

The Governor thanked the donor for collaborating with the State Ministry of Social Development in the meticulous selection of beneficiaries in the State.

In an address of welcome, Chief Operating Officer, Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home, Ilorin, Mallam Farid Razaq Salman said the Orphan Support Project is directly benefiting Nine Hundred and Fifty orphans.

Mallam Razaq-Salman explained that beneficiaries are provided with 10 tons of food items to ensure they receive proper nutrition and grow up strong, 1000 textbooks and 5000 exercise books to support their education and learning.

He stated that the beneficiaries would also enjoy payment of their school fees for children currently enrolled in schools, eliminating financial barriers to education, vocational skills training for 150 children, equipping them with hands on skills.

He pointed out that there are 50 laptops to support digital education and open pathways to modern skills and career opportunities, financial support to orphanages to ensure access to time and quality healthcare.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home, the National Coordinator of Muslims Media Watch Group of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi explained that gesture was from King Salman of Saudi Arabia as palliatives to the people of the state as an advocate of global peace.

The event was attended by Project Manager, Muath Al-Duaylij from Saudi Arabia, President Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home, Dr Abdulrazaq Salman, Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu and Imam of National Mosque Abuja, Doctor Abdulkadir Sholagberu among others.

The programme featured official launching of the project, symbolic presentation of support materials and signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Abibakr As-sidiq Philanthropic Home and other partners.
