
Twenty-one suspects, firearms and over eleven million naira suspected to be proceeds of ransom payments, have been seized by the Kwara State Police Command.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, stated this while briefing newsmen in Ilorin on the achievements of the command in the last six months.
According to Mr Ojo, in one of the major breakthrough, police operatives, in collaboration with local security groups, apprehended a notorious kidnap suspect, Idirisu Sariki, in Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area.
He explained that Sariki is believed to be linked to some kidnapping cases in border communities within the State.

Other suspects apprehended include a gang of three men, arrested in connection with kidnappings in Oro community and six others for their involvement in the kidnapping of Alhaji Abbass and Abubakar Issa in Lafiagi.
Three women were intercepted at Babanla Motor Park in connection with arms smuggling, and One AK-47 rifle and thirty-one rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.
All suspects face charges of conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide.
Mr Ojo also said that in Shaare, Ifelodun Local Government Area, two suspects, Suleiman Jamiu and Mumini Mohammed, were arrested in possession of eleven point three million naira, suspected to be proceeds from ransom.

He affirmed that during the months under review, security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, thirteen rounds of ammunition, and a red Volkswagen Golf car, reportedly used by the criminal gang.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, however, assured residents that security operations would be intensified to maintain peace and order.
