The Kwara State Police Command says normalcy has returned to Isanlu-Isin community following a youth demonstration that briefly disrupted traffic along the Omu-Aran/Ilorin Road on Saturday.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, explained that the protest began around 10 a.m. when youths barricaded the Eleyin axis of the road to express concerns over recent security challenges in the area.

On receiving the report, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, swiftly mobilized reinforcements in collaboration with the Brigade Commander of the 22 Armored Brigade, Brigadier General E.B. Barkins, and the State Director of the Department of State Services.

They were joined by the Chairmen of Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas, Mr Abdulazeez Yakubu Tinuola and Mr Benjamin Jolayemi, alongside traditional and community leaders.

The combined team engaged directly with the demonstrators, while tactical and conventional police units were deployed to maintain order and prevent hoodlums from hijacking the protest.

The statement confirmed that crowd-control measures were implemented professionally, ensuring there were no casualties or damage to property, and the route was promptly reopened for free vehicular movement.

The police command commended the cooperation of community leaders and the youths, noting that their peaceful conduct contributed to the swift restoration of calm.

It urged residents to remain law-abiding and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
