The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved an upward review of the 2025 budget by over ₦48 billion, bringing the total revised estimate to more than ₦632 billion.
Chairperson of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, and lawmaker representing Ilorin East Constituency, Hajia Arinola Fatimoh Lawal, announced the adjustment while presenting the committee’s report at Thursday’s plenary.
She explained that the upward review was captured in the report of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the Revised and Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the year 2025.
According to her, the revised recurrent revenue now stands at ₦471 billion, representing an increase of more than ₦71 billion from the earlier approved figure.
On the expenditure side, Hajia Lawal disclosed that the revised recurrent expenditure is put at ₦203 billion, reflecting a slight reduction of about ₦2.2 billion compared to the initial projection.
She noted that the revised capital expenditure is now pegged at ₦429 billion, showing an increase of more than ₦50 billion above the earlier approval.
The committee chairperson expressed gratitude to the House leadership and members for the confidence reposed in her team to serve.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, directed the Clerk to produce a clean copy of the revised budget for onward transmission to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for assent.
