The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has congratulated Mr. Olatunji Rilwan Disu on his appointment as the new Inspector-General of Police.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, described the appointment as timely and significant, especially in view of the prevailing security challenges across the country.

Alhaji Abdulmalik noted that Mr. Disu is a distinguished and thoroughbred police officer with an impressive record of achievements.

According to him, the new IGP’s over three decades of professional experience across different parts of the country have adequately prepared him for the task of leading the Nigeria Police Force at this critical period.

The IEDPU President, a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, further described the new police boss as firm yet approachable, adding that he has maintained cordial relationships with the people of Ilorin Emirate in the course of his service.

He prayed for divine guidance and wisdom for him in the discharge of his new responsibilities.

While expressing confidence in his leadership, the Union appealed to the new IGP to prioritise efforts at reducing insecurity nationwide.

It specifically urged him to deploy more personnel and operational resources to Kwara State to strengthen the protection of lives and property, particularly in response to recent banditry attacks reported in parts of the state.

The Union wished Mr. Disu a peaceful and successful tenure in office.
