Former Chairman, Board of the National Broadcast Commission, NBC, Bashir Bolarinwa, has formally declared his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Kwara State.
Bolarinwa made the declaration while addressing a diverse audience of party faithful, elders, youths, women, stakeholders, and media representatives, at the well-attended event in Ilorin, the State capital.
He emphasised that his candidacy is not a personal ambition but a duty-driven call to service.
The aspirant drew from his extensive political experience as a former councillor, local government chairman, National Assembly member and Kwara State Chairman of the APC.
He pledged to tackle insecurity decisively, promote peace and fairness across communities, deliver transparent people-centered governance, and boost the economy through agriculture, innovation, and enterprise.
“My vision is clear:to decisively tackle and comprehensively address insecurity at all levels, ensuring the safety of lives and property across every part of the state. To uphold peace, unity, and fairness across all communities,” he said.

His agenda also emphasises investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, alongside empowering youths and women as key drivers of growth and stability to ensure no district is left behind.Bolarinwa, popularly called BOB, stressed equity, unity, and inclusiveness, as he urged party leaders, stakeholders, and all Kwara residents to join his movement for a stronger and more prosperous state.
He added that his bid is a continuum of progress as he commits to consolidate gains under the current administration while advancing collective aspirations for Kwara’s true potential.
“The fact remains that governance is a continuum; no one individual can do it all, but together, we can achieve even more,” he added.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the BOB 2027 Planning Committee, Dr. Alabi Afolabi, declared that the day marks not just one man’s milestone, but a shared vision and the collective yearning of the people of Kwara State.
He added that the declaration came after extensive consultations, prayers, and reflections, following visits to every part of the state to rally full support for BOB’s governorship aspiration.
