Call for unity, improved security, social welfare and selfless leadership took the center stage at this year’s hijrah 1448 AH celebration in Kwara State.

Addressing participants at the event in Ilorin, the Grand Khadi Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulateef Kamaldeen emphasised that leadership is a trust and urged Government to make people centered policies, be accountable and let public interest override personal gains.

In separate lectures, Khalifatul Adabiyah, Sheikh Mustapha Kamaldeen; and Sheikh Habeebulah Adam-Abdullahi, urged Muslims to remain patient, steadfast and trust in Allah to bring about the much needed peace across the country.

In a remark, Chairman of the occasion, Abdulakeem Mustapha described hijrah as a period for sober reflection, renewal of faith and commitment to Islamic teachings.

Earlier, the National Second Vice Chairman of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation of Nigeria, Retired Justice Ibrahim Bio Koto, maintained that terrorism has no justification in Islam, called for responsible reportage, improved intelligence gathering and stronger community participation. 

Retired Justice Koto also urged Muslim philanthropists to contribute to the health sector through construction of hospitals, diagnostic centers and other specialised healthcare facilities for the sake of humanity.

He also urged parents to encourage their female children to study sciences, particularly in the health sector to improve number of healthcare professionals in the country.

The celebration which was witnessed by Islamic scholars and Muslim faithful across the country, included Qur’an recitation, the launch of the 1448 AH Hijrah calender, and a match-pass by various Islamic schools in Kwara State.
