No fewer than eight persons have been trapped following the collapse of a two-storey building in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The incident reportedly occurred at Popo Giwa, off Ajikobi Road, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness told Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM that nursing mothers and children are among those trapped in the collapsed building.
Personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and residents are currently involved in rescue operations.

Efforts to reach officials of the agencies involved and the Kwara State Police Command for confirmation were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.

Authorities are expected to provide further details on the cause of the collapse and the outcome of the rescue operation.
