Acting Registrar of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Mr. Abdulhafis Amin, has charged staff of the Registry Department to uphold discipline, professional ethics and regulatory compliance in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Mr Amin gave the charge on Tuesday at the maiden symposium organised by the Registry Department of the Polytechnic at the Rear Admiral Muhammed Lawal Auditorium, Ilorin.
The symposium, themed, “Redefining Modern Registry: Driving Institutional Excellence Through Discipline, Ethics and Regulatory Compliance,” focused on strengthening professionalism and improving administrative efficiency within the Registry.
The Acting Registrar stressed the importance of strict confidentiality, accountability and harmonious working relationships among Registry personnel, noting that adherence to professional ethics and regulatory standards is critical to the growth and credibility of the institution.
He also called for effective reward systems to motivate staff and enhance productivity, urging participants to actively engage in the symposium and adopt best practices that would improve the efficiency and ethical standards of the Registry.
The Chairman of the occasion and former Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nasir Oyeleke, described the Registry as the “face and heart” of every institution.
Dr Oyeleke commended the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, for creating an enabling environment for the Registry Department to contribute meaningfully to the development of the institution.
The Special Guest of Honour and Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, also commended the Rector for his efforts towards advancing the Polytechnic.
Dr Olohungbebe assured the institution of the state government’s continued support and formally declared the symposium open.
Earlier, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Felicia Awolola, described the theme of the symposium as timely and relevant to the changing demands of modern institutional administration.
He urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and discussions and apply the knowledge and lessons gained to their official responsibilities.
