No fewer than 2,577 civil servants in Kwara State are expected to benefit from the 2026 promotion exercise following the successful completion of the oral interview segment by the State Civil Service Commission.
Chairman of the Commission, Hajia Habeebah Yusuf, disclosed this in Ilorin while speaking with journalists, describing the exercise as smooth and successful.
She explained that the exercise covered eligible officers across ministries, departments and agencies under the mainstream civil service.
Hajia Yusuf commended the performance of participating civil servants, noting that the failure rate was insignificant, representing only about 0.05 per cent of the total number of candidates.
She, however, assured officers who were unsuccessful that they would be given another opportunity to resit the examination in 2027.
The Commission’s chairman attributed the regular promotion of civil servants in the state to the commitment of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to workers’ welfare, emphasising that the exercise was strictly based on merit and not politically motivated.
She recalled that the Commission inherited outstanding promotion arrears dating back to 2019, while the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the exercise in 2020.
Hajia Yusuf, however, said the backlog had been cleared, adding that promotion exercises for 2025 and 2026 had also been conducted.
She explained that the Commission was currently collating the results and would proceed with financial costing before forwarding them to the state government for approval and subsequent implementation.
The chairman assured civil servants that the Commission would sustain regular promotion exercises, urging workers to remain committed, loyal and dedicated to effective service delivery.
