
KWASU Convocation: Graduates Urged To Be Good Ambassadors, Contribute To Societal Development.
Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete has urged its 2023/2024 graduating students to use what they have learned in the institution as a ticket to change the world.
KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh gave this advice during the Twelfth convocation ceremony held at the Ultra-modern Performing Arts Theatre in the university premises.
Professor Jimoh, while speaking on the achievements of the university, said the institution had upgraded the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital to cater for clinical needs of the MBBS programme.
He also noted that KWASU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two Chinese companies to supply customized CNG conversion kits to open a conversion centre in the state to provide quality and affordable services for all.
Vice Chancellor, who applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the infrastructural growth as well as making the Osi and Ilesha-Baruba campuses possible, enjoined the Governor to intervene in the reconstruction of the Shao-Malete road and the inter-campus road network.
In an address, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of KWASU Governing Council, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government for its support and commitment towards the university.
Professor Ambali admonished the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the university.
A total of Six Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety-One graduates were honoured during the ceremony, with Seventy-One students graduating with first-class honours, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Eight – second-class upper division, Three Thousand, Five Hundred and One – second-class lower division, and Nine Hundred and Seventy-Four – third-class honours.
Forty-Nine PhD students and Four Hundred and Sixty-Eight students from other programmes also received their degrees.
