As part of effort to empower women and eradicate poverty, no fewer than 500 women across Kwara State have received empowerment items worth millions of naira.

This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI Which is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development.

Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by the Wife of Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, explained that the empowerment programme will benefit 18,500 women across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

She explained further, that the initiative, going on simultaneously in all the North Central States, including that FCT, will also equip women with the necessary tools and resources to build successful businesses and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

“Recognizing the critical role women play in nation-building, this programme also aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women’s economic empowerment.

“Similarly, women’s empowerent is central to achieving all the SDGs, especially SDG-5 on ‘achieving gender equality and empower all women and girls’ and SDG-8 on ‘decent work and economic growth’, which are both relevant to what we are doing here today.

“The items being distributed today are to equip our women with the necessary tools and resources they need to build successful businesses and to contribute to the prosperity of our great nation.

“To the beneficiaries of this empowerment program, I encourage you to use these resources judiciously to start or grow your businesses.

“Let these items serve as a foundation for creating better life for yourselves and your families”.

Items distributed at the event include Deep-Chest Freezers, Maxi Gas Cookers with Ovens, Generators, and Industrial Grinding Machines.

According to the Nigerian First Lady, the items are designed to support women in starting and growing their businesses, thereby promoting economic empowerment and sustainable development.

The programme was facilitated through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

In a remark, Princess Adefulire, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on SDGs, Dr Nana Fatima Imam, emphasized that the initiative was not just about distributing empowerment items but creating opportunities for women to thrive, as well as empowering children also.

She noted that recent evidence has shown that women entrepreneurs play a significant role in Nigerian economic development through employment generation, poverty eradication, and basic family support.

Harmony FM reports that Princess Adefulire said the office of the SSA to President on SDGs remains committed to women’s economic empowerment as a key driver of sustainable development.

She appreciated Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of women across Nigeria under the Renewal Hope Initiative.
