Muslim media practitioners have been urged to uphold professionalism, unity and integrity in their duties to promote Islam and advance the interests of the Muslim community.
The North Central Coordinator of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, and Chairman of its Shuurah Committee, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar, gave the charge at the inauguration of the new Kwara State executive in Ilorin.
Mallam Mustafa urged members to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, fear of Allah and commitment to the Muslim Ummah, stressing that leadership should be regarded as a trust and a call to service rather than an avenue for personal recognition.

He called on the newly inaugurated executives and media house representatives to reach out to Muslim practitioners across radio, television, newspapers and online platforms to expand the association’s membership and strengthen its presence in the state.
Mallam Mustafa also acknowledged the contributions of the association’s founding fathers and mentors, including Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Al-Adabiy, Justice Abdulkadir Orire and Professor Badmas Yusuf, as well as the National President, Mallam Abdulrahman Balogun, and the National Executive Council.
An elder of the association and Regional Editor of Leadership Newspapers, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, urged members to make Islam their overriding priority, avoid personal interests and sentiments, and remain focused on the association’s mission.

Similarly, Mallam Abdulhakeem Garba of Channels Television called for stronger professional cooperation, responsible use of media platforms and regular meetings, including the use of digital platforms such as WhatsApp, to enhance communication and participation among members.
The new executive, which will serve a three-year tenure, is led by Mallam Ahmed Ajiboye of the State Information Chapel as Chairman, with Mallam Abdulrosheed Okiki of Radio Kwara as Vice Chairman and Moshood Zarumi of The Herald Newspapers as Secretary.
Others are Imam Muhibudeen Yusuf of Radio Kwara as Missioner, Hauwau Alimi-Makama as Treasurer and Furera Muhammad – Financial Secretary, Muizdeen Adewole Mahmud – Public Relations Officer, while Dr. AbdulRazaq Laro Yusuf, Mallam Ali Muhammad Rabiu and Muslimah Abubakar as Ex-Officio members.
The inauguration, held at the association’s secretariat at the Retired Justice Abdulkadir Orire Mosque in GRA, Ilorin, also featured the unveiling of representatives across media houses with Rasheedat Iliyas and Abdullah Ahmed representing Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM.
