Kwara State state House Assembly has passed the Freedom of Information Bill 2025 and the state Water User’s Association Bill 2025 into law.

This followed the reports of the house committees on the two bills.

Presenting their report, the Chairperson, House Committee on Youths, Sports and Information Mrs. Motunrayo Shitu and the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, Mr. Yinusa Oniboki explained that most of the stakeholders who attended the public hearing supported the provisions of the bills.

After deliberations by members, the Bills were read by the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Ahmed Olayiwola for the third time before the final passage of the two bills.

The Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu therefore directed the Clerk to produce a clean copy of the Bills for the Governor’s accents.

Meanwhile, the Freedom of Information Bill had generated arguments by the civil society organizations in the state and the People’s Democratic Party over the insertion of section 31 of the Bill.
