Government at all levels have been reminded of the need to support local industries to boost production of goods and reduce importation.
President, Kwara Chambers of Commerce, Industries Mines and Agriculture, KWACCIMA, Engineer Abu Salami gave the charge at a news conference ahead of NACCIMA’s Annual General Meeting and Conference holding in Ilorin.
Engineer Salami pointed out that the preference for foreign products has put so much pressure on demand for dollars at the expense of the naira leading to the present economic hardship.
He also noted that the ongoing trade war between countries is affecting the cost of production and invariably, hike in the prices of commodities at the local markets.
Engineer Salami tasked the incoming NACCIMA’s National President, Alhaji Jani Ibrahim on the need to check multiple taxation and come up with policies to encourage local entrepreneurship and investments.
