The Kwara State Police Command has reassured residents of Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area following its rapid response to a shooting incident and the reported abduction of 10 persons on Monday.

According to the Command, operatives moved into action immediately after receiving distress calls around 6:30 p.m. over sporadic gunshots in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said tactical units and patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the community.

During the attack, suspected herders were said to have invaded Isapa, firing indiscriminately. One woman sustained a leg injury but has since been treated and discharged.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, later visited the community for an on-the-spot assessment. He met with traditional rulers including the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun, as well as youth leaders and residents.

CP Ojo assured the community that a massive search-and-rescue operation is underway and that all efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.

Police tactical teams, supported by local vigilante groups, are currently combing surrounding forests in pursuit of the abductors, with the goal of rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

The Command also confirmed that normalcy has been restored in the village, which remains under close surveillance to guarantee residents’ safety.

The Police Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to security, urging residents to remain calm as full operations continue.
