Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Thursday organised special inter-religious prayer sessions for the peaceful conduct of the 2027 general election.

The Chief Imam of Osi and Chairman of the League of Imams and Ulamas in the local government, Alhaji Saadudeen Ajisefinni, and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the area, Pastor Kenneth Adegoke, led the Muslim and Christian prayers respectively.

The clerics also offered prayers for the realisation of the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State governorship aspirant, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event, organised by APC stakeholders and elders in the local government area, featured prayers for an end to prevailing security challenges, including banditry and other forms of criminality.

Participants also prayed for divine guidance for political office holders to deliver good governance as they prepare to assume various leadership roles.

The gathering, attended by eight former local government chairmen, party stakeholders, elders and supporters, was also used to endorse the governorship ambition of Alhaji Bolarinwa and the second term bid of President Tinubu.

Speaking with journalists, an APC stakeholder in the area and House of Representatives aspirant for the Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency, Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi, commended the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its developmental strides.

Chief Adeyemi expressed confidence that the governor would support the emergence Alhaji Bolarinwa as Governor in 2027, stating that, “just as the governorship aspirant produced Governor Abdulrazaq while he was chairman of the party in the State in 2019”.

He described Alhaji Bolarinwa as the preferred choice of the party, adding that stakeholders would rally round the party’s eventual candidate.

Also speaking, a former chairman of the local government, Yinka Dallas, emphasised the importance of prayers in achieving good governance in the state.

“We have seen the way and we don’t want to deviate from it. It’s prayer before anything and prayer after all things. That’s why we’ve endorsed, declared and backed it up with prayers for Alhaji Bolarinwa to be the next governor the state and for the re-election of President Tinubu,” he said.

The former council boss called for greater commitment and dedication from political office holders, noting that leadership goes beyond occupying office to ensuring impactful governance.

“In this crucial time in Kwara state, we need a committed and dedicated leader like BOB to take mantle of leadership after Governor Abdulrazaq, who has done well,” he added.
