The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, OON, describing his passing as a monumental loss to humanity.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, stated this in a condolence message issued through the Director of University Relations, Professor Saeedat Aliyu.

Professor Jimoh described the late Professor Ambali as a distinguished Nigerian, an exemplary administrator, and a committed leader whose contributions to the growth and development of KWASU and the wider Kwara community were invaluable.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the late Council Chairman was renowned for his straightforwardness, intellectual depth, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

He noted that Professor Ambali led the Governing Council with wisdom, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

He added that the death of the former University of Ilorin Vice-Chancellor would be deeply felt not only within the KWASU community but also across numerous institutions, communities, and among individuals whose lives he touched beyond Kwara State.

Professor Jimoh commiserated with the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON; the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU); the immediate and extended family of the deceased; colleagues; and friends over the loss of the renowned scholar and administrator.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give his family, associates, and the entire KWASU community the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali was appointed the fourth Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of KWASU on January 24, 2024, by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and was formally inaugurated on February 9, 2024.

He previously served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin from 2012 to 2017, where he distinguished himself through outstanding service and leadership.
