IEDPU Welcomes New Chief Imam of Ilorin, Commends Emir on Appointment
The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the apex socio-cultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has congratulated Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Al-Fulani on his emergence as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, the Union expressed satisfaction with the transparent and rigorous selection process that culminated in the appointment of the 42-year-old graduate of Al-Azhar University, Cairo, as the spiritual leader of the Ilorin Muslim community.
The Union noted that a careful assessment of the scholarly credentials, character, and professional achievements of the new Chief Imam gives confidence that he possesses the requisite qualities to provide sound spiritual leadership and advance the religious heritage of the Emirate.
IEDPU also commended the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for ensuring a credible and merit-based process that produced the most qualified candidate from among the applicants.
The Union prayed Almighty Allah to grant Shaykh Al-Fulani good health, wisdom, and a long life to enable him to discharge the responsibilities of his exalted office effectively and contribute meaningfully to the peace, unity, and progress of Ilorin Emirate.
