Four research teams from Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, have secured competitive research grants valued at $43,913 and more than ₦83 million from TWAS-UNESCO and Nigeria’s National Research Fund (NRF), reinforcing the university’s growing profile in research and innovation.
The international grant of $43,913 was awarded by TWAS-UNESCO to a research team led by Dr. Bolatito Eunice Olanipekun as Principal Investigator.

The award recognises the team’s research excellence and contribution to scientific advancement.
Under the 2025 National Research Fund grant scheme, three KWASU research teams also emerged among the successful beneficiaries.
The team led by Dr. Abdulwaheed Musa received ₦37.59 million, while Dr. Kehinde Peter Alabi’s team was awarded ₦25 million.

Another team headed by Dr. Khafayat Yetunde Olatinwo secured ₦20.44 million.
Presenting the award letters, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, congratulated the researchers, describing the achievement as a reflection of the university’s commitment to impactful research, innovation and academic excellence.

Professor Jimoh urged the grant recipients to mentor early-career researchers to strengthen the institution’s research culture, attract more competitive funding and further enhance KWASU’s visibility on the global academic stage.
