Motorists across Nigeria are paying more for petrol as pump prices have risen to around ₦1,400 per litre in major cities such as Lagos and Abuja, while some northern states have recorded prices of up to ₦1,500 per litre.
The latest increase comes as global crude oil prices continue to climb, raising the cost of importing and supplying fuel across the country.
The price adjustment has added pressure on commuters, transport operators and businesses, many of whom say the higher fuel cost is already affecting their daily expenses.
Although reports indicate that the Dangote Refinery is operating at full capacity, the rise in international oil prices has continued to influence petrol costs in the local market.
Commercial drivers in several cities like Ilorin, Lokoja and Minna have begun reviewing transport fares, while traders say the increase could lead to higher prices for goods and services in the coming days.
Many Nigerians have expressed concern over the fresh increase, saying it is making transportation and other basic living costs more difficult to manage.
