Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated the 464-unit AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Housing Estate at Morire City along the Ijagbo Bypass in Oyun Local Government Area of the state.

The estate comprises 210 two-bedroom terrace apartments, 200 three-bedroom units and 54 four-bedroom terrace duplexes.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, said housing is a fundamental human need and a key pillar of human dignity, security and family stability.

AbdulRazaq said his administration recognises the challenges posed by Nigeria’s housing deficit, which he attributed to factors including the rising cost of building materials, limited access to finance, difficult land administration systems, infrastructure gaps and institutional constraints.

He expressed appreciation to ISHI Homes Limited for partnering with the state government and choosing Kwara as the location for the development.

The Governor said his administration had consistently prioritised housing development, stressing that access to decent and affordable accommodation remains essential to the wellbeing of the people.

He said the state government had also strengthened collaboration with institutional partners, including the Federal Ministry of Housing, to expand the housing stock across the state.

AbdulRazaq disclosed that the government recently acquired a housing estate comprising more than 130 flats at Ogbondoroko in Asa Local Government Area, adding that the estate had been approved for inclusion in the administration’s social support scheme.

He said the commitment to mass housing development was also reflected in the Kwara Smart City project and other housing initiatives across the state.

The Governor further disclosed that reforms in land administration had reduced the processing time for Certificates of Occupancy from 180 days to 35 days.

According to him, the improved turnaround time demonstrates the administration’s commitment to making land administration more transparent, efficient and investor-friendly.

The Chief Executive Officer of ISHI Homes Limited, Dr Olayinka Ilufoye, said the project was designed to democratise home ownership and make decent and affordable housing accessible to residents of Kwara South Senatorial District.

Ilufoye said the housing units would cater to civil servants, traders and other Nigerians who could access the scheme through the National Housing Fund.

He said the name “AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Morire”, which translates to “I have seen goodness”, was a deliberate expression of faith, hope and expectation.

Ilufoye pledged the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, quality construction and timely delivery of the project.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, KWGIS, Alhaji Sulyman Abdulkareem, commended the state government for creating an enabling environment for housing development through improved access to land and the prompt issuance of titles and Certificates of Occupancy.

Abdulkareem said the timely approval of mortgage transactions by the administration was helping to create the necessary conditions for the housing sector to thrive in the state.

The event was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode; Kwara State APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Seun Ogunniyi Adato; Member representing Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency, Hon. Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf; State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi; Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhyideen Salman Hussein; and other government officials, political leaders and stakeholders.
