ISHI Homes has commenced the construction of 464 housing units at Morire City, Ijagbo, in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The estate, named the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Housing Estate, is designed to expand access to quality and affordable housing in the state.

The groundbreaking ceremony was performed on behalf of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, by the Commissioner for Housing, Dr Segun Ogunsola.

Governor AbdulRazaq said his administration had prioritised housing development through initiatives such as the Kwara Smart City, as well as strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and private developers.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that expand access to decent housing and promote orderly urban development across the state.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, KWGIS, ESV AbdulKareem Sulyman, said reforms in land administration had reduced the processing time for Certificates of Occupancy from more than 180 days to 35 days.

Sulyman disclosed that about 600 Certificates of Occupancy had been approved and signed by Governor AbdulRazaq since the reforms began in October 2025.

He said the naming of the estate after Governor AbdulRazaq was in recognition of his contributions to mass housing development, describing Morire City as an example of what could be achieved when government creates an enabling environment for private investment.

In his remarks, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ISHI Homes, Dr Olayinka Ilufoye, said the name “Morire,” meaning “I have seen goodness,” was chosen to express faith, hope and expectation that the estate would become a testimony of prosperity and abundance.

Dr Ilufoye said the project was designed to democratise home ownership and bridge the housing deficit by making decent and affordable homes accessible to civil servants, traders and other residents, particularly in Kwara South, through their National Housing Fund, NHF, contributions.

He assured prospective homeowners of transparency, accountability, quality construction and timely delivery, while commending the state government for creating an investor-friendly environment.

The ceremony was attended by the Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Sunday Fagbemi; the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 election, Hon. Seun Ogunniyi Adato; and other government functionaries.

Royal fathers at the occasion included the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye Adetona, while the Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, was represented by High Chief Abioye Mustapha and High Chief Isiaka Adebayo.
