Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rural development with the flag-off of additional road projects covering the Oke-Oyi/Lanwa and Oke-Ose/Maya Asunlope communities.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who performed the flag-off ceremonies on Wednesday, said the projects would improve connectivity, ease transportation and expand economic opportunities in Ilorin East and Moro Local Government Areas.

The Governor said his administration had completed more than six hundred and fifty kilometres of roads across the state, excluding two hundred and ninety-four kilometres executed under the tax credit scheme, while additional projects were ongoing or in the pipeline.

He explained that good roads were essential for agricultural development, commerce and investment, noting that improved connectivity would enable farmers to transport their produce to markets, traders to move their goods and residents to access essential services with greater ease.

The Governor, accompanied by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and APC governorship candidate, Mr Salihu Yakubu Danladi, was received by traditional and religious leaders, alongside other government officials and community stakeholders.

The APC House of Representatives candidate for Ilorin East and Ilorin South Federal Constituency, Mallam Abdulquawiy Olododo, described the projects as evidence of the administration’s commitment to rural development, saying they would create opportunities for farmers, traders, youths and families.

The Baale of Oke-Oyi, Mallam Soliu Abdulkadir, and the Alangua of Oke-mi, Mallam Suleiman Ibrahim, commended the Governor for responding to the needs of their communities.

They described the Oke-Oyi/Lanwa road project as the fulfilment of a forty-five-year dream dating back to nineteen eighty-one.

The spokesman for Oke-Ose community, Alhaji Suleiman Aremu, described the Oke-Ose/Maya Asunlope road project as a significant milestone, expressing appreciation to the state government for improving access to infrastructure and pledging the community’s continued support for the APC-led administration.
