The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, must submit himself to the judicial process over allegations linking him to the 2018 Offa bank robbery, insisting that no individual is above the law.

The party also alleged that Saraki maintained longstanding ties with individuals it described as “good boys,” who allegedly contributed to insecurity in the state during his tenure as governor and later as Senate President.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Babatunde, said testimonies by individuals connected to the Offa robbery case pointed to an alleged relationship between Saraki and some of the convicted suspects.

According to him, references were made to statements by former Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Government, Yusuf Abdulwahab, and one of the convicted robbers, Ayo Akinnibosun, who reportedly led a political group allegedly funded by Saraki.

The APC was reacting to what it described as allegations by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Saraki accusing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of orchestrating a political plot against him over the charges.

The party maintained that the appropriate venue to determine guilt or innocence remains the court of law, urging Saraki to defend himself through due process rather than media engagements.

It added that the ongoing legal proceedings would provide an opportunity for all parties to present their evidence, stressing that public commentary cannot substitute for judicial determination.

The APC further commended the state government for allowing the legal process to take its course, describing the trial as timely amid growing public concern over criminality and the need to hold alleged sponsors accountable.

Reaffirming its support for the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq, the party said the government remains focused on governance, including infrastructure development, healthcare improvements, and prompt payment of salaries and pensions.

The statement urged the opposition PDP to refrain from politicising the matter and instead allow the judiciary to perform its constitutional role.

It concluded by reiterating that justice must be served and that all individuals facing allegations should be given a fair hearing in accordance with the law.
