Children of persons with disabilities in Kwara State have received educational materials from the Help Women Foundation to support their schooling and ease the financial burden on their parents.

The initiative, led by the foundation’s founder, Ayobola Ipinlaiye, was supported by the Dele Shittu Foundation and the Chief Executive Officer of ISHI Homes Limited, Dr Olayinka Ilufoye.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries included 15 school bags, 10 pairs of school sandals and socks, 25 exercise books and five water bottles.

Ipinlaiye said the gesture was aimed at promoting access to education for children of persons with disabilities, stressing that every child deserved quality education irrespective of background.

She called on well-meaning Nigerians to support vulnerable families by contributing to initiatives that improve children’s access to education and other basic necessities.

The Kwara State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Adedayo Olayinka, represented by the association’s General Secretary, Lukman Abefe, commended the organisers for the intervention, describing it as a demonstration of love, compassion and inclusion.

Olayinka noted that children of persons with disabilities often faced neglect and lacked basic learning materials, adding that the support would boost their morale, encourage school attendance and bring renewed hope to their families.

Similarly, the General Secretary of JONAPWD in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Balogun Olusola, and a parent and association member, Siddiq Mogaji, commended Ipinlaiye and her partners for the timely intervention, urging individuals and organisations to support vulnerable children in their communities.
