Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, has reaffirmed the university’s commitment to accommodating all religious groups.

Speaking during the 2025 Iftar/Media interactive event held at the VC’s lodge, Professor Egbewole emphasized that the institution values religious diversity and has a culture of celebrating with all religious groups during festive seasons.

As the university prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Professor Egbewole outlined the events lined up for the year.

“2025 is a significant year for us, and we have a series of events planned, including a conference in January, the unveiling of our University Ambassador in July, and the main anniversary celebrations from November 23 to 28.”

Professor Egbewole also spoke on the university’s commitment to security, stating that the institution remains free of cult activities.

“Our security architecture is effective, and we have a responsible student body–cultism has no place here.”

In a sermon before the breaking of fast, the Deputy Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, Dr. Musa Abdullahi, reminded Muslims of the importance of fasting during Ramadan.

He emphasized the need to continue with pious deeds after the month and to be content with Allah’s provisions.

The event was attended by students, staff, and Islamic scholars, including Professor Yusuf Badmus, Director of the Linguistic Immersion Centre, University of Ilorin.
