The 2026 citizens’ budget engagement has rounded off in Ilemona, Oyun Local Government Area, with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq pledging deeper inclusion in government planning and projects.

Governor AbdulRazaq represented by Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Olubukola Babalola, the Governor said the exercise gives citizens across the three senatorial districts an opportunity to shape government’s fiscal priorities.

He maintained that no budget could be effective unless it reflects the true needs of the people.

According to the Governor, the citizens’ engagement, remains a practical example of participatory governance that deepens development across the state.

Commissioners of Works, Housing, Planning, and Solid Minerals highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, housing, empowerment, and sports development.

They assured that new contracts, including township and inter-local government roads, would soon be awarded.

Chairmen of Oyun and Ifelodun Local Government Councils, also praised the Governor’s quick response to security issues and the open-door policy, saying local governments are replicating the same model to capture community needs in their own budgets.

The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, who led other monarchs, lauded the Governor’s people-centered projects and declared total support for the administration.

Stakeholders at the event commended ongoing road projects across Kwara South, while requesting more roads to ease movement of farm produce and boost local economy.
