Kwara State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety with the swift rescue of three kidnap victims abducted by armed men in Igbonla community.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the rescue operation followed a distress call received on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Armed men were said to have invaded a residential building in the community, shooting sporadically before abducting some residents.

Ejire-Adeyemi explained that a combined team of police operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters was immediately mobilized to the scene, leading to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims, Fatima Wasiu, Kudus Wasiu, and a six-month-old baby, all found unharmed.

She added that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining two victims, Wasiu Salihu and Abdullahi Sefiu, while operations have been intensified to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi, commended the synergy between the police, local security groups, and community members, describing it as a testament to the Command’s enhanced rapid response capacity.

He also urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence and timely information to aid effective crime prevention and response, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
