Hon. Yakub Babatunde Ajadi, popularly known as Prudent, has formally declared his intention to contest the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ajadi submitted his letter of intent on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat in Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, in the presence of party executives, ward chairmen, stakeholders, and supporters.
The declaration drew a large turnout, with many attendees describing his aspiration as a bold step toward credible and people-oriented representation in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event, Ajadi said his ambition is driven by a genuine commitment to public service and the welfare of his constituents, rather than personal gain.
He stressed that politics should be anchored on service, unity, and development, adding that his previous national assignments and measurable contributions have prepared him for effective representation.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ibagun Ward, Hon. AbdulRauf Adanla, urged party members to rally behind Ajadi, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver.
Similarly, the APC Chairman in Ilorin East Local Government, Comrade Habeebullahi Ajibola Lawal, described him as a dynamic and committed party loyalist with a proven track record.
Other party leaders also commended Ajadi’s consistency and contributions. The Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Gobir Kosejigbe, praised his loyalty and support for party members, while the Vice Chairman, Yahaya Sulukainan Kokewu, highlighted his humility and respectfulness.
The party secretary also acknowledged his philanthropic gestures and commitment to youth empowerment.
Ajadi assured party members of an issue-based campaign focused on inclusiveness, accountability, empowerment, and sustainable development.
He appealed for the support, prayers, and cooperation of party leaders and members as he prepares for the party primaries.
The event ended with prayers led by party executives and ward leaders, seeking divine guidance for the aspirant, as supporters say his declaration signals the start of a focused and peaceful journey toward the 2027 elections.
