A total of 930 intending pilgrims from Kwara State have so far been airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The second batch of 556 pilgrims departed Ilorin aboard a MaxAir flight at about 2am today.

Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Professor Mahmud Mashood Jimba, described the airlift operation as smooth and successful.

Professor Jimba, who expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination recorded during the exercise, assured that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure the timely airlift of the remaining pilgrims from the state.

Meanwhile, the first batch comprising 374 intending pilgrims have safely arrived in Medina, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the inaugural airlift, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq charged the pilgrims to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of the State and Nigeria during their stay in the holy land.

Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his Special Adviser, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen, urged them to strictly adhere to the laws of Saudi Arabia, calling them to pray for peace and unity in the country.
