The new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kwara State Command, Kazeem Kabir Babatunde, has called for stronger collaboration with media organizations in the state to reduce road accidents.

Babatunde made the appeal during an official visit to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kwara State Council.

He said the command was intensifying efforts to reduce road crashes to the barest minimum during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.

According to him, the FRSC has visited several media organizations and sister agencies in Kwara State to seek support and cooperation in promoting road safety.

The Sector Commander explained that public sensitization campaigns and awareness programmes were ongoing to educate motorists and other road users on safety measures and accident prevention.

He warned motorists against overloading, overspeeding, and other traffic violations capable of causing road crashes, urging drivers to strictly obey traffic rules and regulations.

Responding, the Chairman of the NUJ in Kwara State, Ahmed Abdullateef Lanre, commended the FRSC leadership for the visit, describing it as a step towards strengthening the relationship between both organizations.

Lanre noted that the role of the FRSC in accident prevention, management, and control remained vital to public safety.

He assured the corps of the union’s continued support and collaboration in promoting road safety awareness across the state.

Also speaking, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM, Idofian, Hajia Binta Abubakar Mora, who is also the Vice Chairman of the NUJ in Kwara State, congratulated the new Sector Commander on his appointment.

Hajia Mora said Harmony FM would continue to partner with the FRSC to achieve greater success in road safety campaigns and public enlightenment.

She added that the station already operates programmes dedicated to public enlightenment and safety awareness, which would continue to support the activities of the FRSC in the state.
