Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed support for the Aminisa Snooker Club League (ASCL), describing the initiative as a strategic platform for youth empowerment, talent discovery, and grassroots sports development in Kwara State.

Represented by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, at the official launch of the ASCL Inaugural Season 2026 held at Mix & Mingle Lounge, Palms Mall, Ilorin, the Governor commended the organisers for pioneering a professionally structured cue sports league and pledged the State Government’s readiness to collaborate in expanding the sport across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development through sports, noting that initiatives such as ASCL provide young people with opportunities to develop their talents, promote discipline, and contribute positively to society. While acknowledging that snooker is not a new sport, he said the league would popularise the game and make it more accessible to young people.

The Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Jos, urged organisers and participants to preserve the integrity of the league by discouraging gambling and betting. He described ASCL as a valuable platform for youth development and healthy recreation, while commending Governor AbdulRazaq for his continued support for youth-focused initiatives.

In his welcome address, Ameenullah Abolaji Issa, Founder and League Commissioner of ASCL, described the launch as the beginning of Kwara State’s first professionally structured grassroots snooker league. He explained that the league was established through a Public-Private Partnership approach to discover and nurture talented players, promote organised cue sports, create opportunities for young people, and position Kwara State as Nigeria’s leading hub for cue sports development.

League Coordinator, Muhammad Oladapo Jos, said ASCL extends beyond competition, describing it as a community development platform that promotes leadership, discipline, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and positive youth engagement. He called on government institutions, corporate organisations, development partners, educational institutions, media organisations, and private investors to support the league through strategic partnerships and sponsorships to ensure its sustainability and expansion.

The Kwara State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Yakub Ibrahim Abubakar, commended the initiative and expressed confidence that it would contribute significantly to sports development and youth engagement in the state.

Also speaking, Mallam Asinmi Hadi Asileke described ASCL as a pioneering initiative and the first professionally organised grassroots snooker league in Kwara State. He urged the public and private sectors to continue supporting the league to drive talent discovery, community engagement, sports tourism, and economic development.

The Aminisa Snooker Club League (ASCL) is organised by Aminisa Sports, a division of Aminisa Dynasty Concept Ltd (RC 8100400), with a vision to build a sustainable ecosystem for grassroots cue sports development, youth empowerment, innovation, and strategic public-private collaboration across Kwara State and beyond.
