Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has strongly disowned his inclusion in former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s policy team under the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 presidential campaign.
Expressing surprise over a statement released by the campaign team that named him to the role, Moghalu clarified in a statement posted on his official Facebook profile that he “was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team.”
Emphasising his complete non-involvement, he noted that he is “NOT, in fact a member of Atiku’s policy team, even unofficially or in any advisory capacity.”
Reaffirming his political stance, the former presidential candidate highlighted that he has “quit partisan politics in Nigeria since 2022” and continues to maintain a “non-partisan posture in our country’s national affairs,” stating firmly that he is “not a member or sympathizer of any political party in Nigeria.”
Moghalu explained that his primary focus remains his roles as President of @IGETAfrica, a non-partisan public policy think tank, and CEO of Sogato Strategies.
While asserting that he remains dedicated to the country’s progress, he maintained that “such commitment does not have to entail ANY partisan alignment,” adding that he has “adopted the path of statesmanship, not partisanship.”
