The Kwara Central Senatorial Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Dr AbdulRasheed omoda says the party has the political structure and blueprint needed to compete with the ruling party and correct mistakes of the present administration with the support of the people.
Omoda stated this when he paid homage to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at his palace to seek royal blessings over his senatorial ambition.
According to him, the NDC is not coming into the political race to make empty promises but has already developed practical programmes aimed at transforming Kwara State and improving the welfare of the people.
“One thing I can tell you is that we already have a blueprint. We are not coming into the race to make empty promises. We have been working and we have a blueprint that we will unveil, which encompasses everything required to take Kwara out of poverty and bring prosperity to the people,” he said.

Omoda explained that one of the party’s key programmes for Kwara Central Senatorial District is the cultivation of one thousand hectares of soya beans farms to create employment opportunities and empower residents economically.
He noted that the people would be encouraged to take their destinies into their own hands through people-oriented policies and programmes.
The NDC senatorial candidate described the party as a movement determined to mobilise support across the state from local governments to wards and polling units.
“The party is a movement. We will go local government by local government, ward by ward and polling unit by polling unit. The people of Kwara can go to the bank with whatever promise the party makes,” he added.
Omoda also stressed the need to rebuild the public sector, saying the government sector had become weak in critical areas such as healthcare and education.
“The party is ready to fix the system. The public sector is broken. There is no need to over-depend on the private sector if the public sector is functioning well in terms of health and education,” he stated.
He commended the Emir of Ilorin for promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and a sense of belonging across the Ilorin Emirate and its environs.
Omoda said the Emir’s leadership qualities and good gestures remain worthy examples for traditional rulers across the country.
