
A total of one thousand six hundred corps members of the 2025 Batch B, Stream One of the National Youth Service Corps have been sworn in today August 1, 2025 for the mandatory three-week orientation exercise in Kwara State.
The oath of allegiance was administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, who was represented by Justice Tahir Umar.
The corps members, comprising Nine hundred females and Seven hundred males, took the oath at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.

In his address, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the NYSC Management Board, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, urged the corps members to actively participate in all camp activities designed to enhance physical fitness, discipline, and entrepreneurial skills.

“Fellow compatriots, as you formally commence your one year national service today, you will be fulfilling in a special way, the hopes and aspirations of our great country, which put premium on moral and physical development on its youth for a better and greater tomorrow,” stressed.
Governor Abdulrazaq assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and security, advising them to always notify NYSC officials of their movements and to avoid night travels.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Olaoluwa Onifade, thanked the government for its continued support to the scheme, especially in the area of welfare.

He, however, appealed for the provision of a soundproof generator to improve power supply on the camp.
“While thanking His Excellence for always supporting the NYSC programmes and activities in the State, like a child that will always look up to his father, the NYSC camp urgently needs a new soundproof generator, to replace the obsolete one,” he said.
Mr. Onifade emphasized that the orientation programme is structured to prepare corps members for meaningful contributions to their host communities and the country in general.

Activities marking the swearing-in ceremony included a parade, dance and drama performances, as well as a tug-of-war competition between the State Government team and the State Coordinator’s team, with the Governor’s team emerging victorious.
