
The Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS) at the University of Ilorin, in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Kwara State; the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI); Nigerian Red Cross Society and Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KWASEMA) invites the public, policymakers, and humanitarian actors to a High-Level Superbodies Dialogue marking 2025 World Refugee Day.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Director, Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo, and Focal Person, 2025 World Refugee Day Commemoration, Dr. Ruth Abiola Adimula, , the dialogue will convene government bodies, academics, humanitarian organizations, and community leaders, to address the escalating challenges of displacement in Nigeria and globally.
According to the statement,
June 20th is a UN-designated day honouring refugees worldwide, and this year’s theme, “Community as a Superpower,” highlights local networks as the bedrock of resilience, advocacy, and long-term integration for displaced populations.
Discussions will spotlight the critical role of local communities as first responders and sustainable solution drivers for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), aligning with this year’s transformative theme.

The Special Guest of Honour at the event will be Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin.
