No fewer than five hundred women across Kwara State have received empowerment items worth millions of naira from the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, as part of efforts to eradicate poverty.
The initiative which is in line with the President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development.
Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by the Wife of Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, explained that the empowerment programme will benefit Eighteen thousand, five hundred women across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
She noted that the empowerment programme which was going on simultaneously in all the North Central States, including the FCT, would also equip women with the necessary tools and resources to build successful businesses and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.
Items distributed at the event include Deep-Chest Freezers, Maxi Gas Cookers with Ovens, Generators, and Industrial Grinding Machines.
According to the Nigerian First Lady, the items are designed to support women in starting and growing their businesses, thereby promoting economic empowerment and sustainable development.
The programme was facilitated through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
In a remark, Princess Adefulire, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on SDGs, Dr Nana Fatima Imam, emphasized that the initiative was not just about distributing empowerment items but creating opportunities for women to thrive, as well as empowering children.
She stressed that recent evidence has shown that women entrepreneurs play a significant role in Nigerian economic development through employment generation, poverty eradication, and basic family support.
Princess Adefulire gave the assurance that her office remains committed to women’s economic empowerment as a key driver of sustainable development.
She commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of women across Nigeria under the Renewal Hope Initiative.
