Old Students Association Calls For Rehabilitation Of Dilapidated School.

Old Students Association of Oyelagbawo Grammar School, Ilala in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has called on the State Government to rehabilitate the dilapidated school and provide necessary Infrastructure that will facilitate students learning activities.

The National President of the Association, Quantity Surveyor, Kola Adeyemo, made the call during the Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at Oyelagbawo Grammar school playing Field.

Mr Adeyemo lamented the shocking state its alma mata which used to be the second best school by West Africa Examination Council, rating in the state in the late 70s and early 80s.

He also called the state Government to provide more incentives for teachers to improve the standard of teaching and learning.

The surveyor said that the school used to be a pride in Education for Kwara in the late 70s and early 80s.

The Chairman of the planning Committee Pharmacist Nasiru said the old student decided to come together and ensure the school regains its lost glory.

Speaking further, ESV Toyin Shuaibu, Matron, IEDPU Western Zone and chairlady of the occasion, said the effort at bringing back the lost glory of the Grammar School can only be commendable.

She also urged the kwara state government to find a way of harnessing alumni associations in community development.

In her remark, The Kwara state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Moddibo Kawu said the state Government was ready to partner Old school Associations to develop Education sector.

Hajia Moddibo noted that Governor AbdulRaman has invested hugely in Education sector and assured that the Government is committed to transform the lives of the children across the state.

The ceremony had top dignitaries including the Commissioner for Police, Kwara, Victor Olaiya, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya Mohammed Atoloye Alebiosu, Olupo of Ajase Ipo and HRM, Oba Abdulfatai Talabi, Aala of Ilala among others.
