A Non-Governmental Organisation, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, has distributed school materials worth over N11 million to indigent students across selected secondary schools in Kwara State.‎‎

The State Coordinator of the Foundation, Dr. Bashir Ariyo, disclosed this on Sunday during the inauguration of the first phase of the distribution exercise in Ilorin, the state capital.‎‎

Dr. Ariyo explained that about 250 students will benefit from the Foundation’s Back to School Project, noting that nothing less than ten students were selected by each school management.‎‎

He said the project was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in the education sector, adding that in Ilorin Emirate alone, 150 secondary schools are expected to benefit from the scheme.‎‎

According to him, each bag distributed contains ten exercise books, three biros, three pencils, three sharpeners and erasers.‎‎

In his lecture titled “Importance of Education in Nation Building”, the guest lecturer, Ustaz Hassan Agaka, advised the beneficiary students to take their education seriously to become good ambassadors of Nigeria in the nearest future.

‎‎Ustaz Agaka, enjoined the students to replicate the gesture in future, shun all forms of immoral acts and also encouraged teachers to be a source of inspiration to their students.‎‎

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary schools and students, the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Dr. Oladele Amao; Principal of Ansar-Ul-Islam Senior Secondary School, Kuntu, Alhaja Kuburat Abdul; Principal of Senior Secondary School, Apata Yakuba, Mr. Adekunle Adelakun, and a parent from Junior Secondary School, Oke-Aluko, Mr. Sulaiman Abdulfatai, appreciated the Foundation for the gesture.‎‎‎
