Police Dismiss Reports Of Bandits Relocation To Kwara, As It Opens Area Command Office In Omu-Aran

The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting that bandits fleeing military operations in Zamfara State have relocated to Bani town in Kaiama Local Government Area of the State.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the claim as false, misleading, and an attempt by mischief-makers to cause unnecessary panic among residents.

CP Olaiya noted that there is no intelligence or operational report to support the presence of armed bandits in Bani.

He, however, said that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies have intensified surveillance efforts to maintain security across the state.

CP Victor Olaiya, who said that Kwara State remains safe, gave the assurance that the security agencies are fully prepared to handle any potential threats.

He urged the public to disregard what he described as unverified reports and refrain from spreading misinformation.

The Kwara police boss advised residents with credible security information to contact the command through its official channels.

In another development, Kwara State Police Command has inaugurated the newly renovated office of Omu-Aran Area Command in Irepodun Local Government Area, along with four operational police vehicles.

The renovation was made possible through the generous support of the Omu-Aran community, with notable contributions from His Royal Majesty, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti Agboluaje, and Prof Kolawole O. Ajanaku, Vice Chancellor of Landmark University.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, commended the collaborative efforts of the community in strengthening security infrastructure.

He emphasized the importance of effective policing through strong community partnerships and expressed appreciation for the support of the Olomu of Omu-Aran and his council of chiefs.

The Commissioner also lauded the professionalism and dedication of the Area Commander ACP Muazu Ismail and the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) serving in the Omu-Aran Area Command.

He urged officers and men of the command to remain diligent, professional, and people-friendly in their duties.

According to him, the Kwara State Police Command remains committed to fostering a safer environment through proactive community engagement, intelligence-driven policing, and strategic partnerships with all stakeholders.

Dignitaries present at the event included His Royal Majesty, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, members of the council of High Chiefs, representatives of other security agencies and stakeholders from the Omu-Aran community.
