
The people of Patigi community in Kwara State have been assured of massive development following the establishment of the KAMPE National Park in the area.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Chairman of Kampe National Park Steering Committee, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge gave this assurance during a community engagement meeting with members of the composite communities of former Kampe Forest Reserve, held at Etsu Patigi’s palace, in Patigi Local Government Area.
Hajia Musa-Buge, accompanied by other committee members, explained that the meeting was aimed at familiarising themselves with the affected communities and also inform them on the upgrade of the park to a National Park, their roles and expectations from Government.
The commissioner urged the community cooperation to cooperate with Government to ensure seamless operation of the Park.
In an address, the Conservator General of the National Park Services, Dr Ibrahim Goni, congratulated the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the people of Kwara State the Etsu Patigi, Dr Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi the second and the entire Patigi community for siting the park in their domain and the successful hand-over of Kampe Forest Reserve to the Federal Government.
The Conservator General who was represented by the Assistant Conservator General, Mr. Conelius Oladipo pointed out that benefits there in for the community include job creation, infrastructural development, access to social facilities, tourist attraction and related activities.
In a remark, the Etsu Patigi, Dr. Umar Bologi the second, thanked Governor AbdulRazaq and the committee for the honour and affirmed the State Government’s support to the establishment of Kampe National Park, adding that the the office space being constructed by the Local Government authority is at ninety percent completion.
